The new covenant doctrine of adding is found in the following passages of scripture:
Acts 2:41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added
unto them about three thousand souls.
Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily
such as should be saved.
Acts 5:14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)
Acts 11:24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was
added unto the Lord.
Who is added?
-Souls. Acts 2:41
-Souls which are saved. Acts 2:47
-Souls which are saved by believing on and turning to the Lord. Acts 5:14; 11:24
To whom are they added?
-to the church Acts 2:47
-to the Lord Acts 5:14; 11:24
When are they added?
-The same day as they gladly receive His word. Acts 2:41
– On the day of salvation. Acts 2:47
– No one is ever added to the Lord or to the church at any other time!
Who is responsible to do the adding?
–the Lord. Acts 2:47
Is the responsibility for adding to the church or to the Lord ever committed to men?
There is not a verse of scripture that teaches that men are ever given such a responsibility!
